Can I Say Brandi Carlile Red Ink/Colombia |
One of my favorite song moments on Grey's Anatomy so far this season is when Brandi Carlile's gorgeous "What Can I Say" is used to highlight the last moments of "Enough Is Enough." I was able to catch Brandi Carlile live at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood last month and was impressed for sure. At only 23, she has such a defined authentic voice and presence that it is easy to forget that this is a debut album and an emerging artist. At the live show, she performed album cuts as well as a unique take on Jeff Buckley's classic "Hallelujah". Her Columbia release was recorded in the Seattle and at her home in Maple Valley, Washington - the unadorned production courtesy of indie producer John Goodmandson (Sleater-Kinney and Blonde Redhead).
