The last few weeks have been very eventful in the music department of Grey's Anatomy. We have licensed some of my favorite artists for last and this week's episodes AND attended the Grammy Awards here in Los Angeles. We should, as always, start with the artists. Butterfly Boucher, a much beloved and extremely talented singer-songwriter forwarded her as-yet unreleased album to us at Chop Shop Music Supervision right before Christmas. "A Bitter Song" is synched twice in tonight's episode. The show's producers Shonda and Betsy and picture editor Susan agreed. Check Butterfly out on Myspace for further updates about her forthcoming album.

Another favorite is Patrick Watson. "The Great Escape" by Patrick Watson is another track permanently on the car/home/office stereo. Born in California, and raised in the small town of Hudson, Quebec, Patrick Watson began singing in local churches at the age of 7 and grew up studying classical and jazz piano. After creating music and releasing albums in various styles, he put together a four-piece band that performed with the likes of James Brown, Philip Glass, The Dears and the Stills in 2004 and 2005. In 2006, he released the album Close To Paradise. Patrick was just nominated for a Juno (the Canadian Grammy's). We had a great time at the Grammy's --caught amazing performances by The Police (!) and the night's standout and two-time winner Gnarls Barkley. Gnarls performed a song synched on Grey's Anatomy last season, "Crazy" and sported awesome stage-wear as always.
