ALL THE SHADES OF GREY...............................................................................
Alright. So. "Piece of My Heart?" Officially probably
in the top 3 of most awesome Grey's Anatomy episodes EVER. EVER.
It was just so simply amazing that there are no words to say just how amazing it
was. To be honest, when it started, I felt as though it was a little rushed, as
if there was a lot cut out due to time constraints, but then it perfectly
leveled out and just became simply amazing. I know there's that awesome little
show over on Wednesday nights called Private Practice. The one that got
advertised tonight for a second season. But, after tonight, let's just face it:
Kate Walsh? She belongs on Grey's Anatomy. She truly does. She brought so
much hilarity and magic back to tonight's episode, and was probably the catalyst
for many events that happen in the next three, that I'm going to miss her SO
much next week. I loved how the writers weren't shy about the fact that Addison
actually is in LA, and it was mentioned throughout the episode. Izzie? She's
totally turning into Izzie again...the Izzie from the pilot. The model. The
strong one. I can see it. And I'm so thrilled. George is growing up; moving on.
Erica's motives towards Cristina are finally making some sense. (The girl-talk
thing by the way? SO FREAKING FUNNY.) And the Erica/Callie lesbian thing that's
happening? Um...wow? Shonda's already said there's going to be a big kiss to end
the season. A big, amazing kiss. And I can see that Erica and Callie? Probably
going to hook up. But, seriously, I'm hoping that the Erica/Callie kiss is not the
kiss. Because we can ALL see it coming. And we, the fans, want a big honkin'
twist like in seasons one and two.
Speaking of twists. Alex and Ava's (I like the name Ava better) storyline?
Really awesome. It was the perfect way to end the episode. And it, honestly, was
a GREAT twist. Because all of us fans thought she actually WAS pregnant. We know
they've had sex. They know they've had sex. It made sense. So, that? Was an
AWESOME twist. So I cannot WAIT to see where that goes, considering the tables
have turned with this couple...
As for the elevator scene? PURE CLASSIC. It...just...I don't know. It was just
so awesome all in itself!
And Meredith and Derek. The threads are being planted. For their reunion. It
looks to me that they won't actually be together until the finale - and probably
like the final moments of the finale - but that is OK, because it is coming, and
tonight, we got clues. And I loved Addison's exit line, which was the complete
opposite of her entrance line onto the series. It also gave her character the
closure she deserved after basically "disappearing" at the end of last
season. But, yes, tonight's episode was simply...astounding? Amazing? Awesome?
There are no words great enough!
Next week looks so great too. There's sex. Sex on Grey's is always good.
And Meredith and Derek moving further, which is awesome. And I'm just so looking
forward to it.
Anyways, thank you so much for tonight's simply
extraordinary episode. There is simply nothing more I can say...
JEN FROM SURF..............................................................................................
Thank you Shonda! This episode
rocked. I mean it seriously rocked. I felt like we were back in
Season 2 where things jumped from one scene to another and I had to fight to
keep up. There was humor, sadness, and growth in each scene. It
truly felt like the Grey’s Anatomy that I first fell in love with.
Everyone was forced, in some way, to open up or to give up, a piece of their hearts. The patients had cardiac life threatening conditions that directly related to the Residents and their plight for love or acceptance. It was symbolic in the way that Grey’s used to be famous for. It wasn’t right in your face, but it wasn’t easily brushed aside either.
Addison comes back to Seattle thinking that life hasn’t moved on much since she left. I love that when she finds out how wrong she is, she tries to help her old friends open up to her. The problem is that she left. And she can’t save them. They all have their own issues and they need to find their own way to happiness. I love Private Practice, but it was great to see Addison back in the high heels and blue scrubs that she’s famous for. The people in Seattle, and the foremost being Derek, will always have a piece of Addison’s heart, but she now knows that it was good for her to move on. I liked that type of closure. It wasn’t a total goodbye, but it showed some growth and acceptance on Addison’s part.
As for the rest of the characters? George and the interns cracked me up. He’s trying to find his way with a new set of friends and yet keep the old ones close to his heart. Cristina doesn’t whine well. She’s been whining for the past two episodes and it’s getting annoying. I know she was trying to open up, and although it was humorous, it also go repetitive. Her constant need of the Attendings’ approval is getting old fast. Izzie is, well, just Izzie. I loved it when Addison told her to be a fighter again. Sometimes she needs that push to keep her going. And, yes, she was hiding in the Clinic. It’s time to come out and play with the big boys, Izzie. This thing with Alex and Rebecca? I don’t see it ending well. Alex certainly showed a wide range of emotions last night and I loved seeing that. Rebecca needs to go back to her husband and baby or take a long walk off of a short plank. Oh, did I say that? Sorry, but she just needs to go. I want a better storyline for Alex than a psycho ex-patient who stalks her former doctor. I liked Meredith last night. For someone who claims to not be a hopeful person, she certainly seemed like one regarding Phillip. I know there’s the whole symbolism thing there with the tumor and the Mer/Der relationship. But, just taking it for face value? She impressed me. She was strong and she was compassionate. Now, Derek on the other hand, drove me crazy. His brooding, barely speaking, heart-protecting self just made me want to slap him. Addison tried to get him to talk, but just as Derek always does, he clams up. I don’t know where we’re going with the Erica/Callie thing, but it certainly added some one-liners to the episode. And Mark? Where would this show be without Mark? His God complex enough is worth watching every week.
I’d say one of my favorite scenes was between Bailey and Addison. How heart-wrenching was that? It was beautiful. For once, we saw how much pain Bailey really is in. It just made me want to reach through the screen and give her a hug.
This episode was what many Grey’s fans have been yelling for since Season 2. We want the drama, the humor, and the symbolism back. I think that we finally have it. Again, thank you Shonda and Stacy, for an amazing look at Seattle Grace through Addison’s eyes and heart.
