So, there's this theory that the fans have. It says that no single episode will ever be able to top season two's finale, "Losing My Religion." But, dammit if "Freedom" doesn't disprove that title. Like I told my friend, it is literally the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

First off, the great thing was that it didn't feel like a finale until the very end. It wasn't huge, like seasons one, two, and three. It felt...normal, I guess you could say. Until the end. Which was great. Because the end...I can't stop thinking about the end. More on that later.

You could definitely tell that the season's overall metaphor was change. And it was certainly brought full circle. Every single one of the characters has grown and changed so much! Shonda loves symmetry, and I don't think she's ever achieved it as well as she did tonight.

There were so many things left open...I can't even begin to fathom where or when season five will pick up, what with all of the kiss aftermath.

Can I just say though? YES! Alex and Izzie! YES! I'm also all for George and Lexie too, if that's where this is headed. I think some people will see it as too much, but me? I'm in love with that idea! Hahn and Callie - certainly an interesting thing to do! Richard and Adele back together! Hopefully that means that Loretta Devine will be seen a lot more around the halls of Seattle Grace next season...

I'm glad that George finally stood up for himself, and is able to retake his exam (which he'll probably pass...making him a resident...which is awesome). I had no clue what it was that Lexie would find out, but I thought the idea of failing by one point was brilliant. Cristina was happy again, and is going to become a great teacher. It was amazing to hear more about Alex's past. We've never, ever seen that side of him before, and it was absolutely enthralling to watch Justin Chambers' amazing acting. Izzie is in charge of the clinic now! I'm excited to see how she does. She'll probably stumble, but, this is Izzie. She'll pull through. And it sounds like Bailey and Tuck are getting back together?!

But we MUST discuss Meredith and Derek. OH. MY. GOD. YAY! We all knew they'd have success with the clinical trial. But I had NO idea how Shonda'd get them back together with less than 45 minutes left in the finale. And, my God, was it freakin' brilliant. Just, the entire way it was done.
Firstly, the whole Meredith "getting fixed" thing. It was absolutely enthralling to hear about the incident with Ellis, and how Meredith dealt with it - past and present.
And then she realized. And was fixed.
And the clinical trial was a success.
And they went looking for each other.
And she made a blueprint out of candles.
And they kissed.
A good kiss.
That makes you lean into your screen.
And then it ended.
The perfect ending.
To the perfect episode.

I was so glad the kiss wasn't Hahn and Callie. That actually made my night. A MerDer kiss isn't exactly shocking, but, I felt it was going to be the only way to end the episode perfectly, and boy was I right.
But, damn, that ending scene was just so amazingly wonderful and perfect. I CANNOT get it out of my head. I feel like I need to watch it again - NOW.
