Tonight's episode was incredible. I won't be sure until I watch it again, but I'm thinking it was probably the season's best so far. The balance between all of the characters continues to be vastly improved from the previous two seasons and the episodes...they're just amazing. Seriously.
The ending was so sweet. Incredibly sweet. Actually, I think this is the first time we've seen MerDer kiss since the season finale, so the episode wins points just for that right there. It's also great to see Meredith finally really, truly growing. In the past, she would have pushed Derek away because of the diary and he probably would have wound up back in the trailer, but instead she actually told him that she wanted him to stay. And then he gave her the trailer! Perfect, I tell you! Perfect!
Alex was, well, more Alex than he's been in a long, long time and so Alex and Izzie's relationship really seemed genuine Season1/Season2, but I was glad to see them take another step in it (whatever their relationship may be).
Having Callie and Erica go out on a date was great, they needed to finally take some steps. But, speaking of Erica, the most annoying thing about her character is that she is incredibly two-faced. She's likeable one minute (basically when she's just around Callie) and then detestable the next. I'd like if I could have one or the other, preferably likeable. =P
Bailey was great tonight, ordering everybody around. The dermatology storyline was incredibly hilarious and totally genius I thought. I think it kind of gave the characters a refresher course of sorts as to why they are surgical doctors. And George was so great tonight. I'm so glad to see him pass the intern test - he's going to be a real resident next week! This is very exciting news.
It was also awesome, however brief, to see Joe back in Joe's Bar again. That's something we haven't seen in a long time, and it was one of the staples of the show.
In my eyes, even though Krista's episode last week was utterly amazing, tonight's episode did everything Krista's didn't, which is what made it so perfect. It gave us a lot of the things the fans have been waiting for to see all summer.

The fan reaction on the boards is very similar to last week. Very, VERY positive. People are positively glowing about the episode for the most part. All in all, fans are really thinking Grey's is getting back to its roots. Shonda was right when she said the bar had been raised. Oh man, she was right. The only complaint I'm seeing across the board is that every episode this season so far has had too little MerDer. They are, no matter how you look at it, the focus relationship of the show, and right now, many fans feel like their relationship is being used as bookends for the episodes. They're incredibly good bookends, but not much happens with the two (together) in the actual meat of the episodes.

Well, I just wanted to congratulate you on another astounding episode. Grey's really is back. Really and truly. I've never been more proud to be so dedicated to this show.
